DAN BURDA - Biography
"I want to record and release my own music; not for the money. It's never been for that reason. It's because I feel that music definitely touches people and helps them through difficult times in their lives. I feel like I can create music that offers comfort."
His name is Dan Burda, previously known as Dan-E to his fans in Pittsburgh and the tri-state area. Dan, a life-long resident of Western Pennsylvania, on July 1, 2003, left the Pittsburgh area and relocated to California to more aggressively pursue his career.
Dan is a vocalist/pianist, although he also has acting and modeling experience. Before leaving Pittsburgh, he represented local TV station, WB22 as an on-air spokesperson. He was involved in numerous promotional spots on both television and radio and would also be seen mingling with the fans at concerts and station events in the area. In addition to his multiple talents, he has also successfully created, choreographed and performed several large shows at a local Pittsburgh supper club.
Dan Burda has been blessed with a beautiful voice. He began singing in a Catholic church at age eight; became a member of the choir and eventually began cantoring Mass. It was a great experience learning how to sing in front of a crowdthey had no choice but to listen. Singing in church taught Dan composure, how to work under pressure, and how to look into peoples' eyes when he sings.
Since singing and music has played such an important part in Dan's life he feels it is important to let kids know that it can be cool when you're young not to be a jock. You can also be into music. In fact, he returned to his elementary school and packed the house for a benefit to raise money for the music department.
One of Dan's favorite things is the live performance. He did a benefit for Christopher Reeves at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He has been featured in many Matrix ads. Ive done a ton of outdoor performances, festivals, private parties, private shows, and fund raisers. "You name it, I've been there."
In addition to his experience during his contract with WB22, Dan has had additional broadcast/media exposure, specifically in the WPXI Celebrate the Seasons Parade the past three years, performing on WTAE's Project Bundle Up and most recently competing on Star Search, making it to the semi-finals.
Live performances are what makes Dan successful. He has the ability to connect with this audience; treats them just like friends and family. Dan developed an active fan base during his time in Pittsburgh and he definitely realizes how important his fans are --"your fans are your supporters; they are the people who keep you going; they are the people who are always there for you."
Dan is writing songs about experiences that he has had in life, "I think that every song can tell a story. Its just a matter of making that story make sense through music. I feel if you dont have feeling in the music business you might as well forget it. You need a lot of heart and soul in your work to sing songs that will touch peoples lives and let them feel what you are feeling."
He has recorded several CDs. Dan has a demo press kit with pictures, CD, etc. He also has several copyright applications pending for yet unpublished works.
Since appearing on Star Search in April and meeting with several promoters in the Hollywood area, Dan decided that the time was right to move to LA. Pulling up stakes and moving was indeed a difficult decision but one that will surely benefit his career in the long run.
Long term career goals are to be a musician/performer with longevity. I don't want to be an overnight success or a one-hit wonder. I definitely want to be an artist with personality, down-to-earth qualities. Dan would like to someday start a management company. I would love to help kids in their music careers--possibly start little groups throughout the U.S. and maybe twice a year have them meet together to put on a big show.
"If someone has been touched by one of your songs I feel that is success. I've felt success many times."
